The Ministry of Culture of Lebanon announced the launch of a project to transform the house where the famous Lebanese singer Fairuz grew up, in downtown Beirut, into a museum. The goal of the project is to commemorate the creative path of Fairuz and realize it in cooperation with the National Heritage Institution of Lebanon, the Lebanese newspaper "An-Nahar" reported on Thursday. "Invitations to the transformation of Fairuz's house in the Sobornogo area in Beirut appeared more than 20 years ago," the newspaper noted, indicating that this project had the support of public organizations and community figures in Beirut. "However, at that time, the culture ministers did not take any positive steps to activate this idea earlier," the newspaper added. Fairuz grew up in this house along with her brother Joseph and sister-artist Huda Haddad, but left it decades ago.
