The deadline for the ceasefire agreement and stopping the firing between Lebanon and Israel is approaching, which will end today, Tuesday. In this context, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed his concern over the lack of complete Israeli withdrawal, warning that this could lead to a return to war. This comes after an Israeli statement that it desires to maintain five strategic sites in the south along the Lebanese borders.
In this regard, the ambassadors of the Quintet, concerned with the agreement matters, confirmed their intensified efforts to resolve remaining obstacles and affirmed their commitment to supporting the Lebanese state. Later, the Israeli army announced yesterday, Monday, that, based on the current situation, it will leave limited and concentrated forces temporarily in five strategic points along the border with Lebanon.
