Pope Francis began his first foreign tour on Thursday, visiting Lebanon and Turkey for a six-day trip.
The head of the Catholic Church arrived in Beirut, where he was welcomed by high-ranking Lebanese officials. During his visit, the Pope is scheduled to meet with spiritual leaders of various denominations and political figures in the country.
One of the main goals of the visit is to support the Christian minority in Lebanon, which is facing difficulties amidst regional instability. The Pope also plans to visit religious sites and meet with believers.
Following this, Francis will travel to Turkey, where his itinerary includes meetings with the Patriarch of Constantinople and Muslim leaders. The aim of these meetings is to promote interfaith dialogue and strengthen peace in the region.
According to Vatican representatives, this trip is of great importance for strengthening the position of Christians in the Middle East and for promoting peace and stability in the region.
