Riyadh — Jasim Mohamed Al-Bedawi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, confirmed that the decision of the Lebanese Council of Ministers, which requested the army and security forces to immediately enhance the full control of the state over the province of Beirut and confine weapons to legitimate forces only, represents an important step towards consolidating the sovereignty of the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions. This contributes to maintaining security and stability, and protecting citizens and residents. Al-Bedawi reiterated the GCC's firm and supportive stance towards Lebanon's sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity, which achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Lebanese people for security, stability, and development.
