The UN Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, expressed concern regarding the Israeli strike, which occurred following the request of the ruling coalition in Beirut. Turk emphasized the need for a swift and thorough investigation of the given incident. He underscored the importance of adhering to the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law to protect the civilian population.

"During the conduct of military operations, it is essential to take all possible precautions to prevent, and in any case minimize, harm to the lives of civilians, their injuries and damage to civilian objects," Turk emphasized.

The strike, which led to horrific consequences, occurred near the Rafik Hariri University Hospital in the densely populated area around Beirut, according to Turk.
