On Sunday, the White House announced the extension of the "agreement" between Lebanon and Israel until February 18. This was announced after a meeting of representatives of both countries under the auspices of the UN. The main goal of the agreement is to avoid incidents in disputed maritime waters at the border between the two countries.
During the negotiations, the parties confirmed their obligation to comply with Resolution 1701 of the UN Security Council, which calls for the cessation of hostilities in the conflict of 2006 between Lebanon and Israel. As a result of the meeting, it was decided to extend the functioning of the "agreement" for further cooperation and support for peace and security in the region.
"We call on all parties to continue working together with the main goal of ensuring security and stability in the region," said the representative of the White House. In turn, the representative of Lebanon expressed confidence in the necessity of strengthening security measures at the border between Lebanon and Israel and continuing dialogue to resolve all possible conflicts.
