On Thursday, the representative of Lebanon confirmed that the continued presence of Israeli armed forces in its territory poses a threat to peace and security in the region. "We cannot remain indifferent to the dangers posed by this threat," he stressed. This statement was made against the backdrop of ongoing tensions on the border between Lebanon and Israel. Notably, since the end of the Second Lebanon War in 2006, the presence of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has been a source of international monitoring.
"The continued occupation of Lebanon by Israel threatens peace and security in the region. We cannot remain indifferent to this threat," noted the representative of Lebanon. He emphasized that Lebanon remains committed to the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations, calling for Israel to cease violations and withdraw its forces from occupied territories.
Tensions on the border between Lebanon and Israel are exacerbated by incidents of armed clashes and violations of Lebanese airspace. High-level meetings are being held to seek ways to de-escalate the conflict and prevent further escalation of tensions. Lebanon insists on the necessity of compliance with UN resolutions and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern regions of the country.
