Two people died as a result of a strike by an Israeli rocket that fell into a residential area in the north of Lebanon on Tuesday, the official national news agency reported.
Witnesses reported that the rocket exploded in a small tree, leaving behind destruction and panic among local residents. Medical services quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance to the injured.
"This difficult moment only exacerbates the tense situation on the border between Lebanon and Israel. We call on all parties to exercise restraint and seek a diplomatic resolution to the emerging problems," said the representative of the Lebanese government.
An investigation into the incident has already begun, and official sources state that a quick resolution to the escalating situation is expected.
