The Minister-President of the Government of Lebanon, Nurar Salam, received the confidence of the parliament today, with a majority of 95 votes out of 128 possible.
Nurar Salam was appointed to the position at the end of September. In his first presentation before the legislators, he stated that his government would strive to address the economic crisis in the country, which has worsened following two explosions at the Port of Beirut this summer. As a result of the second explosion on August 4, 2020, more than 200 people died, thousands were injured, and the port was destroyed.
The parliament expressed hope that under Salam's leadership, the government of Lebanon will be able to resolve its accumulated problems and lead the country out of a complex situation.
