The Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad al-Hajjar, has issued a decision to ban the movement of trucks across all Lebanese territories during the Christmas and New Year period. According to the National News Agency, the decision was made based on a proposal from the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces and out of concern for public safety and public order. The decision stipulates the ban on truck traffic starting from Wednesday until the evening of the following Thursday, as well as on the Wednesday after next and until the evening of the Thursday after that. This decision exempts military vehicles of all types and categories, fire trucks and civil defense vehicles, the Lebanese and International Red Cross, fuel and gas tankers, water tankers, trucks transporting grains, wheat, corn, and barley, trucks transporting flour, livestock arriving through the Port of Beirut, trucks for waste transportation, and refrigerated containers carrying agricultural products, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, medicines, and drinking water. The decision tasks the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces and the municipal police with implementing its provisions and taking legal measures against violators according to the established procedures.
