Lebanese Army Achieves First Phase Goals in Hezbollah Disarmament Plan

The Lebanese Army announced on Thursday that it has achieved the 'objectives of the first phase' of a five-phase plan to disarm Hezbollah in the South Litani area, which extends for 30 kilometers along the border with Israel. The Army stated in a statement: 'The Army confirms that its plan to contain weapons has entered an advanced stage after achieving the objectives of the first phase effectively and tangibly on the ground.' It explained that this phase included 'extending control over the lands that have come under its authority in the South Litani sector, with the exception of the lands and sites that remain under Israeli control.' Israel, which continues to carry out strikes, especially in southern Lebanon, is skeptical of the Army's steps and accuses Hezbollah of restoring its military capabilities.
