Resolution 1701, adopted by the UN Security Council in 2006 to establish a ceasefire between Israel and "Hezbollah" in Lebanon, was renewed. For this purpose, the UN Secretary-General's representative and the head of the UN mission in Lebanon, Jan Kubis, presented a report at a meeting of the Security Council. During his speech, he noted that it supports stability in the region and expressed hope that the parties would succeed in achieving a long-term peace.
Special attention was paid to the situation on the borders of Israel and Lebanon, as well as the actions of the security services of Lebanon. Kubis underscored the importance of Lebanon adhering to Resolution 1701 and the leadership's commitment to fostering trust between the parties. He also highlighted the positive aspects of cooperation with Lebanon.
Speaking on the Syrian impact, Jan Kubis emphasized the importance of striving to ease tensions in the region and support for peace and stability. In his conclusion, he expressed readiness to continue working with all parties in the interest of achieving a long-term peace and sustainable development in Lebanon.
