Last night, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France warned about a "civil war scenario" in Lebanon. Addressing journalists after a meeting with the country's president, Michel Aoun, Foreign Minister François Hollande commented on the complex political situation in Lebanon, reminding that the country is already in a crisis, which could lead to such consequences.
"I must be very cautious in my words, but I genuinely believe that Lebanon is on the brink of civil war. To sit back, cross arms, and do nothing would be a mistake," emphasized Hollande.
The minister called on all political leaders in Lebanon to take responsibility and start working to avoid escalating tensions in the country.
"We bear responsibility for Lebanon and do not want the country to fall into civil war," he added.
