Top diplomat of the European Union Josep Borrell called for the full use of UNIFIL, the current forces of UNIFIL, operating in southern Lebanon, within the framework of their mandate. He expressed concern regarding the recent incidents in this region and emphasized the importance of peace and stability in Lebanon. "UNIFIL must use all available means and fully ensure safety and stability in the region. It is necessary to prevent new incidents and continue to resolve existing conflicts through dialogue and peaceful negotiations," Borrell noted. UNIFIL, with over 10,000 peacekeepers from different countries of the world, is deployed in Southern Lebanon with the aim of supporting peace and security in this region. Its mission was established with the Security Council of the UN after the end of the Lebanon War in 2006.
