
On Wednesday, Hezbollah claimed in a statement that it had killed more than 70 Israeli soldiers and wounded over 600 since the beginning of the Israeli ground operation. Lebanese authorities reported today that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes against Lebanon since the start of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict on October 8, 2023, stands at 2,593, with injuries at 12,119.
A total of five Israeli soldiers were killed and seven others were wounded in clashes with Hezbollah that occurred on Wednesday and Thursday in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated today in separate declarations. The IDF said that an incident with Hezbollah occurred on Wednesday when Israeli soldiers from the 2nd Carmeli Brigade were conducting an operation in a rural area of southern Lebanon, resulting in four soldiers killed and three others severely wounded.
According to the Israeli state television news, Kan, Hezbollah fighters emerged from the bushes and threw hand grenades at close range to the Israeli soldiers, causing the casualties. The IDF added that another soldier was killed and four more were injured on Thursday in further clashes with Hezbollah.
Additionally, two civilians were wounded today on a road in the Western Galilee region in northern Israel after 50 projectiles were fired from Lebanon, as indicated in another statement. Meanwhile, the official Lebanese National News Agency reported earlier today that at least 18 people were killed and several were injured in Israeli airstrikes against various areas of Lebanon.
Since September 23, the Israeli army has been launching intense airstrikes against Lebanon in a dangerous escalation with Hezbollah. It also initiated a ground operation near the southern Lebanese border in early October.
A dangerous escalation of violence between Israel and Hezbollah is leading to a high number of casualties on both sides, with death and injury figures constantly rising. Direct confrontations between Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah fighters are leaving a trail of destruction and suffering in both southern Lebanon and Israel.
