
The basketball club Beirut's coach from Lebanon, Nadim Hakim, emphasized that his team always strives to participate and compete for titles at the International Basketball Tournament in Dubai. The tournament is currently ongoing in its 34th edition at the Al-Nasr club hall until February 2nd. He remarked highly of the tournament, describing it as one of the oldest on the continent of Asia.
"The Beirut club, having participated in 'Dubai Basketball' since their first participation in 2017, is ambitiously focused on winning their first historic title in the tournament, which is described as one of the most prestigious on the Asian continent," Hakim noted.
He also highlighted the strong ties between Lebanese clubs and Dubai as a whole, where they consider themselves at home. This atmosphere encourages Lebanon's teams to be active and fight for victory in the tournament.
Hakim expressed satisfaction with his team's performance and noted that despite the challenges in preparation for the current season in Lebanon, they decided to participate in the tournament in Dubai. The team has demonstrated a high level, even in their last match against 'Strong Group' from the Philippines, which is considered one of the strongest contenders for victory.
Hakim also stressed the importance of the tournament in Dubai from a scheduling point of view. He pointed out that the team faced some challenges leading up to their trip to Dubai, including delays in preparation due to circumstances in Lebanon. Nevertheless, they are ambitiously focused on participating in this year's tournament in Dubai and plan to continue fighting for victory.
Basically, the teams 'Strong Group' and Beirut have already secured a spot for themselves in the quarterfinals, regardless of the outcomes of their matches in the concluding group stage games.
Today, the group stage of the 34th edition of the tournament concludes, featuring four matches. The most interesting match occurs first, between the national team of the UAE and the Al-Nasr club, followed by a game between the national team of Tunisia and 'Zambanga' from the Philippines, then 'Al-Hikma' from Lebanon meets 'Ahli Tripoli' from Libya, and concluding the evening 'Strong Group' from the Philippines and 'Al-Union' from Jordan.
Nadim Hakim stated: "The Beirut team has not missed participating in the basketball tournament in Dubai since 2017. We have been focused on participating, regardless of the challenges in preparing for the current season in Lebanon."
