Geneva (AFP) - The United Nations confirmed that around 50,000 Syrians have returned to their country last week from Lebanon, which is subject to continuous Israeli strikes after the regional war with Iran spread to it. Head of the International Organization for Migration's mission in Lebanon, Matteo Lotchano, said that the UN body is monitoring «large border crossings». In a memo distributed to the media and based on official statistics, Lotchano added: «Around 50,000 Syrians crossed the Lebanese border towards Syria last week, without counting those who may have crossed it yesterday (Thursday) following evacuation warnings for southern Beirut suburb».
