Khalil remains in Tyre in southern Lebanon with his family, like a few thousand others, defying Israeli shelling of the city, the threat of an imminent invasion, and fears of supply shortages after the coastal city became nearly isolated from the rest of the country.
"We want to stay in our homes even if the ground shakes under us," Khalil said.
He added that the situation in Tyre is becoming increasingly critical, with residents suffering from constant bombardments and lacking access to basic goods and services.
