The Lebanese Parliament today, Monday, approved a two-year extension of its term. Local media reported this. According to Lebanon's National News Agency, the decision was made with 76 votes in favor, 41 votes against, and four abstentions. The parliamentary session, chaired by Speaker Nabih Berri, was attended by deputies, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and ministers. The agenda included the discussion and adoption of proposed laws. Parliamentary elections were originally scheduled for next May.
