The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) evacuated the remaining residents of a border village with Israel on Tuesday after they insisted on staying despite evacuation calls from the Israeli army. Amid the expanding confrontation between Hezbollah and Israel, residents of border villages and towns are trying to stay away from the conflict. However, the killing of one of the residents of Alma al-Shaab in an Israeli airstrike on Sunday, followed by the killing of a priest in the town of Al-Quleia, located about 30 kilometers to the north, has raised concerns among the locals. A source in the UNIFIL force said that more than eighty people left the village, where no one remains. He added that the force escorted them outside its area of operations.
