Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun described the situation in the south of the country as tragic on Monday. In a statement released by the presidency, Aoun said: "The situation in the south is tragic due to the serious violations being committed by Israel." He also added that security forces are taking firm steps to prevent any security breaches through arrests and weapon seizures. "No one in Lebanon wants a civil war, and anyone who seeks to fish in troubled waters will not succeed," Aoun said. He noted that international contacts are continuing to push for negotiations with Israel.
