More than 13 thousand Syrians have relocated to northern Lebanon after the beginning of the wave of refugees to the northern border of the country at the beginning of March. This was reported by the Crisis and Poverty Management Room of Akkar, Akkar province.

This wave of refugees in Lebanon was caused by the worsening situation on the western border of Syria. According to local authorities, incoming Syrians manage to settle in different villages in northern Lebanon.

"We are providing support to these refugees, but the situation is becoming increasingly complicated due to the large number of people in need of assistance," noted the representative of the local administration.

It is expected that the number of refugees may still increase as a result of the ongoing conflict in Syria.
